God Knows Best

Sometimes in life, there are things we really want but we don’t get. In some cases we might get upset over it because we feel we deserved it etc but the fact that we didn’t get it could be for our highest good.
I’ll give two real life examples:
.
1) Unsuccessful Interview
A good friend of mine once applied for a job in a Government office. He prayed before going to the interview but didn’t get the job. Another lady was successful with the post.
Months later, the same office called him to ask if he would be interested in another post. He was interested, attended the interview and this time got the job.
As it so happened, not long after, they had to cut some posts and it was decided it would be for the post of the lady above (the first job he applied for) that would have to go. So, if God had answered his prayer and made him successful at the first interview – it would have been him out of a job.
Sometimes, if we don’t get what we want, it could be that there is a good reason behind it.
2) God why me?
I shared a house with some people in Liverpool in the early 90s. We all had a room each and shared the bathroom / kitchen. Then one day the Landlord gave us a notice that he wanted everyone to leave. He wanted to sell the house?
It was inconvenient and I had to stay with a friend for a few weeks. I started looking for alternative accommodation and my friend encouraged me to buy. I wasn’t confident about it, as I was only an Admin Assistant in the Civil Service, on £9,000 (about 1994). So, I viewed a beautiful 2 bedroom flat being sold by a couple. It looked fairly new, nothing needed to be done. Beautiful décor, Lovely kitchen, bathroom suite, central heating with timer, alarm system, garden. It had been reduced to £25,000 (those were the days).
I put in an offer, my uncle and brother who lived in London helped me out with the 5% deposit - I could just about afford the solicitors fees and moved in to the flat within 6 – 8 weeks.
When all the palaver started my thoughts were “God, why is this happening to me?” sort of moaning. But when I got the keys to this beautiful flat – my thoughts were: well, I’m glad the previous landlord kicked us all out. Infact, he should’ve done it sooner.
So, in a nutshell I’ve learnt that sometimes trials give way to better things and some prayers are not answered immediately for our own good.

We never have a problem with HIS faithfulness!
Lady E, Wonderful & inspiring! Great examples!! God really does answer all of our prayers! Sometimes He says not now! "And we KNOW that in ALL things GOD works for the GOOD of those who LOVE HIM who have been called according to HIS purpose." Romans 8.
God truly is FAITHFUL! Our trials come to make us strong in the LORD...
Thank you for sharing, In HIS Love, Peace, Joy & Blessings!
If there is a will, there is a way -I suppose.
Hi, Elena. You are so correct that sometimes things do work out for the best, and it is wise to not look back with regret to much or often. Things so often have a way of coming out just right, even if we don't see how the dots connect ahead of time.
Thank you for this, the inspiration in your words was just what I needed right now.
Mike
There is something amazing about the world in which we live is in. And it is the random things that seem to happen. For they arent ever really random. And these ‘random’ things don’t happen to us. They happen for us.
Yet we only see the hidden order in chaos after the fact. If only we could see it in the moment… divine design is how I like to think of it.
This is for sure one of those "perfect moments", beautiful story and one I will remember. Loved every minute reading it:) Thanks for sharing this.
I love this Lady E. Very uplifting! I believe there's a Celestial blueprint that the Almighty Architect has drawn up for each and every one of us. As in building a house, we, as "builders" are responsible for following his plans. Nothing's easy, but the ultimate result is what matters most. All the best, Ciao!
Hello LadyE They say the lord works in mysterious ways, that is so true. Like your friend who applied for the job, maybe it was not his time, maybe it was not supposed to happen. Often I do something and think I should have done it years ago, well, maybe it was not the time for me.
Thank you for your lovelyf hub and I hope He does.
This is a really great Hub and I agree completely with you. My Bishop always says, "God is never late; He's always on time." I guess that's similar to what you described in this Hub.
Thanks for sharing.
What an inspiring hub. He has a plan and we are all part of it. It can be hard at times to understand and that is why we need faith. Keep the faith!
I have always felt in my life that there is something good in the worst!! Your hub defines and highlights that wonderfully!! Cheers!! :)
yeah almost every one at certain point in life will utter "God!! why me"
what i believe is God will not give you what you seek, instead he gives you what you deserve..
nice hub..cheers
god bless you
Good hub, and a good reminder. I've seen this sort of thing happen in my own life a number of times. One was how we (a pair of city slickers) came to be living here in the mountains. Hey, that might make a good hub! If I do write that up, please don't think I'm trying to steal your thunder, but rather that I'm acting on inspiration you provided. Thanks for another inspiring hub.
Opportunity can be a religous experience and one would be wise to give thanks where thanks are Due!;)
That story about the job was great and so meaningful.
Lovely to read Elena,
Only God knows how much knowledge we can handle--some things he gives and some he keeps. I used to think that I should only ask for his choices for me, but I think that is a cop out. I now ask boldly for the things I want because 1. he said to do that and 2. I think he wants us to think for ourselves. He and I have an understanding that if I am way off base he is God and I'm willing to learn a better way. I have my learner's permit and I drive the car a lot but often he steps on the brake or takes the wheel when I try to cross the intersection too soon. I can live with that. =:)
I loved your stories, they remind me of times i prayed for things that were not right for me. I also liked the
end of the prayer quote, " you,ve got to be kidding"
Cheers and God Bless You
True true,at some time in my life when things have seemed pointless, and I felt my god have left me. It all turned out for the better.
One of my mottos is: Everything happens is for better! Thats exactly what you mentioned in your amazing hub. Thank you for sharing it with us!
You have illustrated it so well. When one door closes another door opens wide.
Now, there must be a reason God made me come to your page here.
Nothing happens for nothing and God has his own time for all.Honestly, one thing i have learned so far is to take things the way they come so even when i seek and it fail to come immediately,i still do believe that it will come because like you said above, the landlord would have done it sooner(earlier) that is why when you think he is not hearing, believe me, he heard you though you envisage for an immediate answer,he has his own time.God has his time...
This made my day sis and ups, rated awesome and voted...UP!
Great Post! I too believe that everything happens for a reason. Either we learn something from the experience or that was best for us. Things like you have narrated has happened to me several times. One incident which happened while i was still in school gives me shivers even now. I missed my regular bus because my servant was 2 minutes late in giving me my tiffin box. I got into the next bus only to see that my regular bus had an accident and the regular place i sit was crashed completely. Many people lost their lives or were hospitalized.
Even relationships that seem in the toilet can sometimes live again. My husband and I divorced in 1990, ran around with others for years, then came back together in '96. We've been together ever since. Miraculous!
Thanks for such lovely examples, Elena-God is in our lives!
This is why we have to fight the fight of faith, keep believing and pray without ceasing and do not look back.
PS: Winsome(above hubber) expressed it very well. Voted-up/rated.
So true, so true Lady_E.
I needed to be reminded of that.
Thanks for writing this.
Believing empowers receiving and receiving at the right time is best. God's timing is Perfect. Our timing.....at times, either we're not ready for what we're asking for or there's something else better down the road or we just need to wait a bit longer for our best to manifest in full bloom. I know that to be true. Thanks again.
2 big thumbs up!
This hub is a great reminder that sometimes the storm clouds clear the sky and make a much sunnier day. Thank you!
God does have a sense of Humor. If anyone doubts this then go look in the mirror. Great Post Lady E. Love your posts. Mark in Kentucky.
Well said, Lady_E. Some other phrases and thoughts which come to mind:
Everything is a learning experience.
It's not what happens; it's what you do when something happens.
With God, all things are possible.

hello young lady,
u know, its been written/said, that "Its The Wise Man, that will increase in Learning and Knowledge, and its the Fool, who despises, Knowledge and Wisdom", for you my dear with this hub, are truly Wise! in my subjective bias view! of course! :)
Keep Going young lady, keep going!

Lady_E look at you. You go girl. You have worked so hard on these here hubs. You have rocked on. We are Blessed to have your shares. I loved this awesome reminder.I do not know the good news from the bad news. I keep trusting GOD he know what he does.
I have truly seen you GROW in Christ at the hubs. It is awesome. You know I love your writing and you as well. You are my first hp angel. You always will be. Miss you.
I hope to be back soon for more reads. I do not know how you keep up. My focus is 'a drifter'. It is getting better. (-;
Love n Hugs girlfriend my sister in Christ.
Very inspiring hub. Life is not a bed of roses. At times, some things happen for our own good. God will not allow us to go astray but we might not know.
Hi Lady E - yes I agree - many, many things turn out better than we expected and you are so right to make that comment and relate those great examples from your own life - I also love Jai Warren's comment, however, reference the 'celestial blueprint' (what a wonderful description); the foundation from whence, perhaps, we all came.
I think that's true and I also think Wavegirl22 is right when she says about events 'happening' for us though I believe now that each moment we live through is OUR own, personal creation and that we have been given complete free-will to create each moment as we choose and that that is where the daily, moment-by-moment 'challenge' arrives in our living - our choices create our canvas - and maybe those choices are 'painted' onto that canvas simply yet powerfully by our 'every-moment' thoughts. Well, just a thought!
Yes...if God closes the window of opportunity for you, it is because He is planning to open the whole door just for you!! :)
Lad E, your words are well thought out, and so is our poetry , by the way. I have been reading it , and am following you. Stay well......
Insightful hub. I too find myself thanking God for knowing better than I do whats best for me and not listening to my prayers the way I sometimes prayed for them to pan out. What can I say,(Father knows best).
Beautiful examples.
God never gives us what we "want." Without exception He always gives us that for which we ask. The problem remains, most people do not know how to ask, and frequently they are unaware of that for which they have asked.
It's true one never knows what God has planned for the future.
Nice write up...! We are humans & by human nature we xpect evritin 2 go our own way bt God as d driver knows wen 2 speed up, slow down & 2 put foot on d brake pedal. Evri1 on planet earth xperienc setbacks bt d point is, 'how u manage such snag(s)' & dis snags ar really wat makes life interestin & appreciative. In a nutshell wat we need is "PATIENCE & FAITH." Certainly, God always knows best in al circumstances we find oursefs!
Hey thanks ppl.i've been wondering why my prayers are not answered? now i know that God has his own time and He knows what is right for me.

I also heard many saying "God why me".I guess God keep smiling and saying to those, "if not you then who else, I must pick someone". Maybe things happen to us for our betterment, we just don't take enough time to understand why it happened.Thank you so much Elena :)
