Fans to your Fan Club & Comments to your Hubs
66
I have read so many questions on how to get more fans and comments and even get emails about it, but this is the first one that has been posted on my Profile, requesting an answer.
Only recently, Hubpages changed Fans to Followers but it is similar in meaning. So without much further Ado, some tips on getting more fans/followers and comments are:
a) Taking an interest in other people’s Hubs. Hubfeed shows Hubs as they are being published or you could do a search on a topic you like and read the Hubs. Leave comments, maybe, how you felt about it or something you want to share relating to the Hub. In most Cases, the Hubber will return the compliment by visiting your profile and reading your Hubs. They might even decide to Fan you if they like your Hubs.
*
b) Visit Forums – Forums is an interactive place on Hubpages. Click Here – Forums. I put the link there because when I joined HP, it took me a couple of weeks to know that a place called Forums existed. It’s a very interesting place where Hubbers interact and you will start to get a feel of people. Well, their personalities. As people get to know you, they would check out your profile and Hubs.
*
c) Write Good Content/Interesting Hubs – This could draw interest to your Hubs and people might fan you, so that when you publish again, they would be notified via email and they can check out your new Hub.
*
d) Post questions in the Q & A Session of Hubpages and if you don't want to, answer any of the questions there. I assure you, that you will find a question you can relate to. You can answer by just writing a few lines or by creating a Hub. I make a habit of checking out profiles and reading Hubs of people who take time to answer any questions I post there. I'm sure there are others who do the same.
*
e) If you like people fan them too. (sometimes, just reading someone’s profile is inspiring). You could fan them. I can’t guarantee they’ll fan you back but the chances are very likely. However, avoid Fanning sprees – I’ll cover this later.
So the key is – Interaction.
*
One excited Fan coming your way.....
Try to avoid:
- Fanning someone and requesting them to fan you back.
- Fanning sprees – Fanning one Hubber per minute. So, in a space of 15 minutes, you've fanned approx 15 - 20 Hubbers in a row, non-stop. (Some people don’t realise that it shows on their Hubtivity).
I'm not saying DON'T, but this has been discussed in Forums and it isn't appealing.
* * *
Finally……
As your fan base grows, you would have to read more Hubs in a day. When you publish Hubs, your fans take time to read them and comment and it’s nice if you return the compliment when they also publish Hubs. This brings me to the next point.
Click on Edit Profile and ensure on Email me when Authors I’m following publish - You have it selected as Daily Digest or Immediately. (See mine below)
I would appreciate other people’s tips on getting fans and comments, to share with readers. Meanwhile, may I use this opportunity to thank all my lovely Fans and send them lots of Hublove. Thank you.
Update...
P/s - I would like to add these helpful comments posted by Hubbers in response to the Hub. Thanks Mike and Dohn.
“If I were to add anything, I would suggest a response to a comment left on your hubs, even if it is just to say thanks for reading. There are some folks who will leave a comment and never return, of course, but others do return to see if their remarks were noticed, and how the writer responded to them”. Mike Lickteig
“I would add however, that "Fanning Sprees" also hurts your hubber score as well. One other thing that I would make mention of is to write good quality content. I sometimes see hubs that look more like blogs, like 250-300 word variety.” Dohn121

This is good advice. The forums are good but there are too many people there that seem to do anything to get noticed. They seem to specialize in person attacks and that's not my style. I stopped going to the forums months ago.
In your case your beautiful avatar photo didn't hurt for attracting fans!
Thanks for the tips which I appreciate. Like Pete though I have never really gotten into the Forums - too many people making personal attacks and not enough real dialogue. In any case, I don't have the time!
Thanks again
Love and peace
Tony
I feel your hublove Lady_E. You've been one of the firsts hubbers to fan/follow me (Kirstenblog is the top responsible for me keeping hubbing :)) and I've learned a lot from you; and you are alway there with an advice or a "push".
I've been quite lucky as I've read many good hubs full of advices from the beginning, a lot from you:), and you are 100% right. Trying to write interesting hubs and commenting "well" is the way to go. That's how I have 94 great followers. Not all will give the favor back, some hubbers are too "important" for that, some even don't bother to answer to comments on their own hubs, but as you say a lot will do. And this in my opinion makes the difference between great hubbers and those who are not so great, without regards to the hubscore.
You definitely deserve yours, not only for the quality of your hubs but also for the help you give.
Thanks, 1000 times.
This Hub is full of "Sound" advice to help anyone get more "Fans/Followers" to visit your articles on a regular basis. I practice all these tips on a regular basis to help increase my readership. The forums do get a bit "Nasty" toward fellow Hubbers at times, so I avoid those type interactions, but by placing interesting topics on the forums in different catagories helps you to not only interact, but it gives you an opportunity find out what the most popular topics are to help you create interesting Hubs. Great Hub... I give it Two Thumbs Up !!!
Terrific Ideas. Loved the tip about the digest. It is one of those things you just hit the default and later on when you get loads of people you are following it just fills up the mailbox. Thanks for the timely info.
Great hub great advice Thanks Nick Belfast
Lady E, Nice hub! You have some great suggestions! Thank you for sharing, much love & Blessings
CONGRATULATIONS on your HubScore of 100 you deserve it!!!
Lady_E, your advice is very sound, as always. I echo the sentiments about "mass" following. If I go back to the follower's profile and see he/she has become a follower of 20 people in the last half hour, I know it had nothing to do with my writing.
If I were to add anything, I would suggest a response to a comment left on your hubs, even if it is just to say thanks for reading. There are some folks who will leave a comment and never return, of course, but others do return to see if their remarks were noticed, and how the writer responded to them.
This was nicely done (as your work always is). Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your great advice. I never been to the forum because I haven't got the time and once I did have a look in and wasn't happy about the wording there.
I am still looking around for more fans.
Every new Hubber should read this. Very good advice.
I don't think I could've written this hub better, Lady_E. You pointed out all the important points. I would add however, that "Fanning Sprees" also hurts your hubber score as well. One other thing that I would make mention of is to write good quality content. I sometimes see hubs that look more like blogs, like 250-300 word variety and am not impressed!
You always give such good advice, thank you.
Excellent Hub. WE really like receiving comments, so work on the assumption that others do too.
When we join a Fan Club we try to leave a message explaining why we are joining, usually referring to a Hub that we have enjoyed reading. We agree it is sort of tacky to ask for others to join our Fan Club.
Thanks for another good Hub.
I needed this information - thank you very much - learned allot. Must go edit my profile to get the emails! Thank you!
Thanks for the hub. I really like the way you write. It is always so nice to read about.
Hi Lady E
Whatever you do keep doing the things you do. It certainly works towards increasing your fan base! Thanks for the great hub!
Good advice Lady_E. Thanks.
Hi Lady E,
Very well thought out and written Hub. All your advice is something all new Hubbers should be given after joining HP. I would just add that whatever you do on HP should be genuine, not a blatant attempt to gain followers or readers. People can sense it even in the written word.
Hi, Lady E...
I appreciate your article. Great tips! Learning what to do and what not to do is quite helpful. I shall take your advice and put it into action. Thanks again, Lady E, all the best!
Great info! Thanks! :)
Thanks for the advice. They are indeed very useful tips.
Very good advice Lady_E. I especially like the tip about not asking for followers. I'd like to reiterate, read and comment on others hubs. Very well written hub.
A great hub and yes I think responding back to comments on your hub is just a nice thing to do. I always respond and I know when I post a comment I like to know it's appreciated. Thanks for a great read.
This is a good hub. If I leave a comment I usually check back to see if it has been acknowledged. Also, fans who do fanning sprees are totally annoying.
Cool. Thanks!
great advice lady_E. Though we here in hubpages live like a virtual community,we all have or feel some kind of affinity to each other, that makes us to respond well to our fans.Sometimes when I get very busy, even don't have enough time to read or visit any hubs, I really feel bad-its almost like real world commitment to our friends.I am glad you wrote this wonderful revealing hub.
Hello again,
I want to thank you for your hubs and advise. After reading all of the above, there's not much more to say. LOL
Keep on Hubbing...
KT
This is wonderful advice. Thanks for sharing some Hublove with us!
You always seem to give very good advice; I still feel very new to this and trying to juggle time, but your hub is embedded in my head. (almost rhymes!)
Thanks.
Personally speaking, the comments get most of my attention. If I am reading a hub from a special fan (like you) and I read a Hub that grabs my attention, I often follow up by checking them out.
Lady E...
Great advices!
What I like of this hub is that goes straight to the points! Easy to follow, nicely written!
Thanks for sharing,
warm regards and blessings,
Al
Thank you Lady_E for this info. I wasn't aware of many of these things. lol, lol, I am just here ministering and loving it! Thank you my friend, much love!!! YOUR GREAT!!!
Lady_E your writing and topics are superb and I'm sure that attracts a lot of attention. I do appreciate those helpful tips. I've never gotten into the questions and answers section much, so now I guess I will. Thanks for that, see you soon.
Great advice Lady_E, Bravo and well explained! I'm rating this one up and bookmarking it for future reference. :) Thanks for sharing!
When I first showed up on Hub Pages, I referred to it as my "Escape From Facebook." I felt constrained in a few areas there though it does make a nice avenue for Hub Promotions as I have recently noticed I'm pulling more hits off my Facebook Profile.
I do appreciate the community aspect here. I'm pretty much into my little niche here and I'm happy just where I am.
There is one thing I need to emphasize. From the very beginning, I am humbly grateful for each and every comment, fanmail and follower. It means, to me, somebody somewhere likes what I write. Personally, I believe one of the biggest mistakes one could make would be to start believing one is "God's Gift to HubPages" and take for granted those comments, fanmails and followers. I feel a responsibility to each and every one in terms of writing solid content and visiting as many as humanly posible while still running a full-time ministry. Thank you Lady_E for a great Hub!
Anybody wanna start a Rubber Chicken Farm?
Lady_E-I thoroughly enjoyed this Hub! In my 8 months here on HP, I have noticed that some folks tend toward those 'fanning sprees' you speak of, so rather than immediately fanning them back, I check out their profile now to make sure that's not the case.
In your case, though, I think I'm quite safe!
This is a great hub of sound tips. It makes me aware of possible violations I may commit if I didn't read this. Now I know, thanks for sharing this.
I've found so much good advice on your hubs, and it's always so interesting how you present it.
Lady_E,
Thank you for such valuable, helpful advice on increasing fans/followers. I will definitely take your advice, including the part about responding to someone if they post a comment. I read that there was a forum, but haven't had a chance to check it out yet.
Thanks again!
:-)
Thank you for taking your time to read my question and provide me with a answer, this hub has good information that I believe will help me, I will keep you posted.
God bless you and stay in touch
Good tips to follow. Thanks;Peace/rated up!
really good information for newbies here. I came here to blog and did not realize it was a it different, but the idea is the same, to get readers, one much be a reader...and in the long run we all benefit from this exchange!
Namaste
I don't know how I missed this one, but you gave absolutely positively great advice! I gave it a thumbs up! :)
Great hub and thanks for the info...
Lady I am FOLLOWING you-Beware,I am a great follower, and following as fast as I am,I may fell down.
Wow! you have done a really great job,me myself I am a beginner and still in learning lol....you have some talent, and knowledge...nice hubs
I feel a kind of "sadness" if I go back to a comment I've made, and the author did not respond. That does not happen frequently. Perhaps they do not know yet that they are allowed to interact. Perhaps they think this space is for the reader only.
Meantime for me, I cannot wait to see what people want to say to me about my topic. Sometimes I write back in too many words. But I am a chatterbox
Thanks for the hub. If the brand new hubbers could only read this before they begin, it will help them a lot.
Lady_E - thanks for following me on Twitter . .otherwise I may not have found my way here! You just added a new fan to your list:) Great Hub . rated upwards!
I try to always leave comments on everything I read. Here is an example of a hub that holds no surprises but I am encouraged that I am doing the right thing. Thanks.
Winsome sent me this way and I'm glad he did. Good advice. Stuff I think I know/knew but don't seem to follow through with. It's like working out maybe - the hardest part is getting from the house to the gym!
You have so many useful HubPages tips. Thank you for the information on the fan club and followers. I'm going to edit my profile now so I can get emails when my people publish. Thank you, Lady_E.
Hi Lady_E, as you know from my friend JBeadle's comment, I was very impressed with the hub and with your permission I will link it to the one I am writing in response to his question to me about followers.
I especially like the tip about a slice of chocolate cake by the computer. =:)
your hubs are really very good. I need to write in your ways because I think what every I have written on hubpages is not good.
Great hub, very good on explaining some of the ins and outs of hubpages. Thanks a lot.
Wow, thanks for the info! I'm guilty of fanning sprees, not to try to boost my followers, I've got a fantastic and loyal following of some really neat folks, but just because hubpages makes it too easy. Whenever I follow someone and get taken to the page of people they follow, I usually click on one of the profiles that look interesting. If I like their bio or articles, I follow, which leads to another list of hubbers, and chances are another follow. I'll do this for five or ten minutes, especially when I'm procrastinating. I'll also follow everyone who participated in a really good discussion too. Guess I should be more careful, I didn't realize it penalizes hubscores and looks spammy!
Good article! Well written and informative.
A good hub on fans which I did not know thanks for the information
sam
Thanks for the tips! I'll check out the forums. I enjoyed reading your hub. Best wishes.
Great advice, Elena. Thank you very much. ^^
Good info.
good tips to follow. I agree one must leave comments when hubs are read. Being active in forums is so enjoyable and one gets to learn quite a lot.
Thanks for sharing these tips.
Thank you for sharing, this was very helpful. :)
