Job Interviews – How to prepare for Typing Tests

65

By Lady_E

These days, when businesses recruit for new vacancies, particularly to work in an office - some just go with the information given on the Applicants CV or Application form. However, some actually want to test the Applicant on site and if they pass, they will call them back for an Interview.

.

ツ★ The tests are usually for:

1) Data Entry – to ensure applicants are good with accuracy.

2) Typing letters – to ensure applicants have a good level of English.

3) Typing Speed – to ensure when they recruit, applicants do not spend 30 minutes typing out one letter, with one finger!

If you are presently searching for a job, then I encourage you to visit the websites below to either practice your typing, or check your speed.

Ps. On a personal note, the best way to learn how to type is using the correct fingers for the Qwerty keyboard as shown in the diagram below. (Touch typing). I learnt this in the 90s and hardly look at the keyboard now, when I type. Typing Tutor is an excellent resource or visit: http://www.powertyping.com/qwerty.html

** If your job will not include a lot of typing – there is no need to learn it.

To Practice Typing:

To Test your Typing Speed (Wpm – Words per Minute):

Good Luck.

I am so grateful I took typing classes in the 9th grade as they have benefited through schooling and work. It is never to early to start learning and never to late to learn how.

I loved my typing class in school. I helped me land a great job as a security secretary with the 3M Company in my early 20's. Your hub brought back so many memories. Thank you!

@Vocalcoach

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have a feeling in those days, just like me - you probably used an electric typewriter. It's such a handy skill.

Best Wishes.
