Making Money Online - Linked to Hubmania
70
I wanted to write a Hub about Hubpages – The Addiction. However, after checking the site, I noticed there are several Hubs published about it, so I decided to give it a different spin.
As you know, it’s important to have regular check ups and the most recent one I had, I got diagnosed with Hubmania. I don’t know how the Doctor arrived at that conclusion but the dialogue we had is below:
Elena: "Hello Doctor."
Dr Slocum: "Hello Elena, how are you? I just need to ask you a few questions."
Elena: "ok"
Dr Slocum: "What are one of the first things you do in the morning?"
Elena: "I log on to Hubpages." (Elena goes on to explain the site)
.
Dr Slocum: "Do you have any thing that persistently dominates your thoughts?"
Elena: "Yes Doctor, I’m always thinking about the next Hub to write."
Dr Slocum: "What are your hobbies?"
Elena: "Hubbing, writing on the internet, Blogging."
.
Dr Slocum: "Hubbing?"
Elena: (Explains the meaning).
Dr Slocum: "I see. So you use the computer a lot. Do you have any friends you visit or who visit you?"
Elena: "Yes Doctor, I visit my Hubber friends online regularly on Hubpages Hubspace. They are really nice people."
.
Dr Slocum: (with a worried frown) "I mean normal friends."
Elena: (getting defensive) "They are normal Doctor. Is there a problem?"
Dr Slocum: "Well, not really but it’s nice of you to have friends you see in reality."
Elena: (Gives the doctor one of her piercing stares, without even blinking)
Doctor: (Coughs nervously.)
Dr Slocum: “Ok. Lets move on to your eating Habits? Do you eat well and do you take time to enjoy your meal?”
Elena: “Yes, Doctor – I eat well and sometimes eat while reading, commenting or interacting on Hubpages.”
Dr Slocum: “Mmmh…. I see.”
Elena: Thinking (“why is he looking at me funny? Doesn’t he sometimes eat while workng in his office?”)
.
Dr Slocum: “Is everything okay? Do you have any worries?”
Elena: “Not really doctor, but I do get a bit bothered when my Hubscore drops. I feel I have to keep on writing to keep it up.”
Dr Slocum: “Hubscore?”
Elena: (Explains the meaning).
Dr Slocum: (Writes some notes).
.
Dr Slocum: “Well, Elena from what you have told me and all this issue of Hubbing, Hubscore, Hubbers, Hubpages and Hubspace - it seems you have a condition called Hubmania. The remedy would be to spend less time on the computer. Meanwhile, maybe you should think of asking Hubpages for compensation, as it started when you signed up with them.”
Elena: “I don’t think its necessary doctor besides, they place Ads on my Hubs which earns me money. They also publish my articles for free.”
Dr Slocum: “Okay Elena – your decision. Take care of yourself. Don’t over do things.” (he smiles, the appoinment is over)
Elena: (smiles at him) Thank you. Doctor.
.
Dr Slocum: Closes his door and thinks “strange lady.”
Elena: Walks out of his office and thinks “weird Doctor.”
Before driving off, she switches on her mobile and goes on the internet to see what's happening in Hubspace......
Ps. Part Fiction.

- I Have Got Hubpages Addiction
I have been here on HubPages only for over two months and I got the bug. I should be doing this and that but no I sit here reading or writing hubs. There must a cure for it. Maybe there is an anti-hub-biotic....

Hilarious! Oh gosh, I’ve got it too! All the symptoms, even checking my mobile! Thanks for the laugh, Lady_E!
That's GREAT! Once again you've delivered a much needed message with wit and tact. I've been posting hubs for a little less than three weeks, and already I find myself checking in multiple times a day. Part of it is the affirmation I get from kind hubbers such as you in comments posted to my hubs, part of it is the thrill of watching the numbers ticking upward. Other sites I write for only offer page views. Hub Pages might as well be handing out narcotics in the way they've put together such a winning combination of good-hearted, talented people and an encouraging user interface. I just have to learn to white-knuckle it a little more and take time to accomplish other things between Hub Pages visits! Thanks for a refreshing and humorous reminder.
It is a great pleasure of life to interact with the people of versatile minds. A great interview with a Doctor rightly expressed the Hubmania.
Very witty it can be addictive though I got cured of that when my hubberscore plummets inexplicably - that will cure it :(
Well, At least I now know it is not just me. Whew… I can tell my family I am not the only one taking up residence at my desk. This was so funny. Thanks for the laugh this morning. ~Cheers
As long as your investing in your HubKarma for retirement,Lol;)
voted up & beautiful! Very well written, with an honest spirit of wit and humor. Don't feel alone with the diagnoses Lady_E, I think most of us here have caught it too...
Very funny. Great presentation!
Amazing, I so enjoyed it!
Lady E, I'm an admitted Hubaholic! I've recently discovered "Hubaholics Anonymous", a group dedicated to, not curing the disease, but to use the affliction to become a more successful Hubber. It's a 10 step program.

Great Hub Elena, Ciao. Keep on Hubbin'!!!
I have to admit I usually have HP up when I'm on the computer, even if I'm doing something else. It hasn't gotten so bad that I check it from my phone or while visiting family and friends, but I do have it going here. I know circumstances will limit me before long, but for now--yeah, I'm addicted. But that's my only addiction.
Oh, and also Coca Cola or Pepsi. But that's it.
Well, I guess sometimes I use too much salt. But that's really it.
Well, and chocolate.
Sigh..................................
Good article, Elena. Very amusing but still on the money.
Mike
Very cool and fun! What a creative way to present the issue,...I am affraid a I too may be a victim of hubmania! God stuff Lady_E!
I wish I had the same problem. I'd get more hubs done that way! I might have caught something from this hub. lol
That was a wonderful Post on Hubmania. I am sure thaere are many more who could give you company. I am fortunate that I no longer have Hubmania and do not worry anymore about hubscores. As long as adsense makes me bucks i have no complaints.
My doctor do not have the priviledge to see me, I'm too busy hubbing! The addiction is severe, and I do not think there is a cure.
The way you have aproached the subject, is so unique, it needs a special price! You are just a special star.
That was really cute. I guess I'm not quite that additcted.
This cracked me up,so funny and true, your idea of seeing a dr. is brilliant.
Cheers
Where the community is great always the addiction comes in.
Very funny hub Lady E. I am on my way to becoming a Hubmaniac. I keep telling my friends if I can just make enough money to cut down my outside the house job to part time I could write alot more.
Keep up the good hubs :)
So I'm sitting here reading your hub while eating a bagel and drinking coffee - I look a lot like the lady in the photo!
I must say you have a cracking good imagination power.I used to think about hub score a lot when I joined hubpages, but don't bother anymore.Thank you so much :)
We must be seeing the same doctor :) Rated up for helping me self-diagnose a hubmania condition!
You described it so well, Elena-I guess I'll have to admit I'm a Hubaholic. With Hubmania. Oh dear.
But hey, I'm not going to any meetings, they'd take me away from HubPages for too long!!
This is very amusing, I enjoyed reading this, thank you.
THAT WAS HILARIOUS!!! I feel exactly the same way. I felt that conversation has just described ME. So I'm not the only one. Good! (sigh of relief). ;-)
Great and funny too! I especially like the retort about whether he eats while working at his desk. If this was a real doctor, he'd be a jerk! How come he never heard of Hub Pages? And did he take your blood pressure? Flash his torch light thingy in your eyes? Okay, I know it's part fiction. We're getting quite a name on the Web, you know! Hub Pages has some great new stuff coming down the tracks soon.
Cheers. Rating this up, and still smiling!
Great hub and well written. It really points out the problem. My computer was playing up for over four days and the withdrawal systems I had you wouldn't believe it. I couldn't sit down. I jump up and down and pressing the on button. It worked for a while and I could quickly write a few comments and bingo it went again. It was a nightmare. I don't dare writing it just in case Mr Evil from the anti-Hubpages read and will start on my computer again.
Thank you for linking my hub to yours. Well since there is no cure we just to bear it as best as we can. All the best.
Lol...
Loq...
Iddwl...
I'm convulsing with laughter here, My Lady_E
LOL ! I love it! ;-)
LOL!!! It's easy to catch!! Only part fiction for most of us I think. I'm always thinking of something new to write as well. Gotta be original, have a different spin on things if it's been written about hundreds of times, going 'YAY!! when hubscore is high and 'what happened' when it drops!!! All the while, having fun!
This is great experience. The world should watch out, we hubbers all carry the gene (many pinches of salt) LOL!! Voted-up!
Great hub! I think Hubpages can definitely be an addiction.
No doctor or anybody else will understand our hubmania unless he/she are there themselves!! Wonderful hub put up in a very hillarious way!!
By the way, I didnt send you that ipad mail, some hacker must be hacking my account!! I dont have definite ideas about ipad myself!!
Cheers!! :)
His diagnosis mirrors my symtoms to a tee! My wife told me I was sick and now I am getting the picture. Oh this can't...perhaps it's just a severe case of Hubitius and will clear up quickly if I just write one more hub and try to get my score up a bit. This may require some counseling now that I think about it...addiction therapy no less! Good Write Thanks for sharing! WB
Hilariously done. I might have to see this doctor too, care to recommend to me, Elena?:). Hubbing is very good for the mind and soul. I couldn't help but notice one responder saying somewhere along the lines of people with differing minds and thoughts, which equate to a fun read. I dare to say I love Hubpages. He:)
This funny and educative. Thanks for sharing.
Hello LadyE. Now that you mention it I do have a mild case of Hubmania. This was a funny story. I see a bright future for you as a flash fiction writer.
Lady E, Excellent! How marvelously creative you are! This was quite Hilarious as well as informative! Thank you for sharing in His Love, Peace & Blessings!
Hello LadyE. Thank you for that funny way of looking at the addiction of hubpages.
Very Creative
Thank you again
No doubt all of the above. Since I found the Hubs I eat and sleep it. When I am sitting on my couch my laptop is always open and I click periodically in between t.v. and movies to see if any comments left:0( sigh..if none. But usually there are one or two or more:0))) Surprises come in internet packages:0) I can't start or end my day without a peek or two or three or four or five, oh gosh I'm foaming at the mouth, gotta go check my comments and work on my newest hub...LOL...Love it..great post. I've become a clickaholic hubmania syndrome. Is there a cure for my ailment.
Hubmania! Ah.. this explains the power of those little blue arrows, too! Very funny hub and way too true! LOL
Hey Lady _E
It's very cool and quit funny, but your creative ability is perfect, keep on,good luck
Lady E, I've been diagnosed with Hubits disease... Everything I see i think... Hub IT!
Hi Lady_E...I joined HubPages 4 days ago and yes I do find myself being addicted to it....logging in many times a day to check whats going on...I see that you have been hubbing for quite a while now and I wanted to know if you have any useful tips for a starter...thanks...

Thanks for sharing. I am rather new to hub pages and the time I put into it is seldom. Thanks for sharing your "life" as a hubber.
