Very interesting. It's hard sometimes to determine what is slang when you use it all the time.

Canadian Slang is the same with:

"Wicked" and "Hammered"

"Gutted" is for the hunters and

"Keep your hair on" is the same as our "keep your shirt on"

and new one from Canada

"Knocked up" = "Pregnant"

Lady_E profile image

Lady_E Hub Author 2 years ago

Cheers Duchess - Its quite similar to UK. So, whenever I visit Canada, I will understand people when they use slangs. :)

You bring back lots of cherished memories for indeed these were the kind of terms, sorry slang, I heard when I was living in the UK. Legless, intereting, pissed, another, ace and dosh and what have you, grand another. These bits and pieces of speech are culturally very important, they keep us alive. Great Hub, Voted Up.

Lady_E profile image

Lady_E Hub Author 5 months ago

Ha ha.... that made me smile. Indeed, they keep us alive. Oh, you must come back for Olympics 2012.

Best Wishes.
