My New Hobby – Women Sumo Wrestling

My hobbies include listening to music, writing but I need something more exciting. Something new, a change….

So, I have decided to be sporty and try Sumo wrestling, which originates from Japan – I’m sure we have seen some sumo wrestlers before, but a lot of people are not aware there are Women Sumo Wrestlers.

What is it all about?

It’s an activity where one wrestler tries to force another out of a ring. The rules are simple: the first wrestler to touch the ground with anything besides the soles of his/her feet, or who leaves the ring before his/her opponent, is the loser. Fights only last for a few seconds, up to a minute. How cool is that? Short and Sweet….. well, maybe a bit painful.

In Japan, before fighting Sumo wrestlers have rituals which involve praying to the gods and purifying the Spirit and Body. I have also noticed that before Sumo Wrestlers fight, they greet/curtesy to each other.

I have always been intrigued by Martial Arts. I reckon Sumo would be a great start, although I might have to add some weight first, otherwise I could be blown out of the ring like a feather…

Below is a video of women Sumo Wrestlers fighting. P/s note people get paired up with various sizes of opponents. So, a fat woman could fight a small woman. Also, it’s interesting to note the traditions they observe before the beginning of a fight.

Maybe I should add Sumo Wrestling to my CV, on recreation activities.

My Dear Lady when I read the title for this post I thought you might be participating. And I had two thoughts on it. First you were too classy for such an endeavor. Second I would definitely subscribe with my cable company to watch you in action !But I guess I will just continue to follow your hubs instead. :)

Yuk, If i was that fat, i would wire my mouth shut, only leaving enough room for a straw. Elena, if they fall on you, yipes. Maybe they have a light weight, if so , it probably would be good exercise. The video was fun to watch. Thank you.

I am speechless. I am without speech. But bigs girls need attention, and they certainly can use the exercise. SO, female sumo wrestling it is. Don't wrestle, just throw salt in the ring and be the ref. Thanks again for sharing.

Not sure why? Just never thought. But, like everything else, its there for whoever to try.

Tongue in cheek...there are a lot of overweight women that should take this up. At least they can be (dare I say it?) fat, AND fit!

This is something new to me.I guess adding sumo wrestling to your CV will show your diverse taste for recreation and certainly it will make your CV more catchy.All the best :)
