Quiet Time and Relaxation
73Quiet Time – a lot to Gain
We now live in a world where most of us live on Fast-forward from the minute we wake up, especially if we have a family. It’s nice to have some time out to be quiet. It could be any thing from 30 minutes to an hour or even more - maybe at work, break time, at home or somewhere else – conducive.
Do you have have at least 30mins “Quiet Time” for yourself a day?
See results without votingQuiet Time is something most people are aware of, but not a lot of people are doing it. Sometimes because they don’t have time or because they don’t make the time. If you are one of those people, lets look at some benefits below:
Quiet Time first thing in the morning?
Some Benefits
Inspiration - Quietness helps find answers to situations, challenges. It could also bring some excellent ideas to your mind. Some people use it to read very good books that change them positively from the inside out.
.
Meditation - For some it’s Yoga – meditating and relaxing the body and emotions. Some Religious people have Quiet times early in the morning. Muslims, Christians and other Religions. If you are a Christian, when you mind is quiet – your spiritual senses are very receptive. You only “hear” when you are still.
Easy Relaxation Techniques to Quieten the Body and Mind.
.
Recharges and Refreshes – If you work in a very stressed environment, having time away on your own recharges and refreshes. If you have kids, taking time out (maybe getting someone to look after them?). Years ago, a single friend of mine was studying for a degree and found it challenging concentrating on studies/assignments. Once in a while, at weekends, I’d take the kids out and she enjoyed the peace and quiet - then she had a clear mind to get on with her assignments.
Remembering Friends/Family - Brings to memory friends you might have forgotten or haven’t been in contact for awhile. There are times in life when, something happens and it’s a particular friend who can help. In my experience, it’so embarrassing calling that person knowing I haven’t spoken to them for maybe 2 months. Sometimes, I think maybe they are thinking "oh! so now you remember me." but they are very nice. You could even go through your diary and see whose birthday is coming up next.
.
Evaluating. It helps you evaluate your life and plan the next step of action. Example.: Jo Bloggs - everyday wakes up in the morning, rushes to work. Has half an hour break, sandwich in front of computer. Leaves 5pm, arrives home 7pm tired. He has wife/kids who are expecting to spend time with him. Weekends busy, friends visiting. Family time. If he continues every week like that, with no quiet time for himself, he might be losing out a lot in life except for the two week family Summer holiday and Christmas. I believe there is much more he could do with his life and for his family, if only he took time out for himself.
So, how about taking out some Quiet Time for yourself daily or few times a week. Time makes all men equal (we all have 24 hours/day). If managed well, we can find “Quiet Time” and live in the moment.
For those who already practice this, it would be nice to know if you experience other Benefits from having some Quiet Time.
Hmmm... I guess people have different ways of relaxing
Quietness Quotes
“In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth.” Mahatma Gandhi
”You can hear the footsteps of God when silence reigns in the mind.” Sri Sathya Sai Baba
“We need quiet time to examine our lives openly and honestly. . . spending quiet
time alone gives your mind an opportunity to renew itself and create order.” Susan L. Taylor

Lady E, Wonderful! You have shared some of the great benefits of being....... "Quiet"! Nice photos as well! Much love & Blessings!
Yes. I always give myself the quiet time by doing meditation. It is always so refreshing thereafter. Thanks for the hub.
Quiet time is certainly a benefit that for many of us is a luxury. This of course should be separated from driving or sleeping! I wish that America would adapt siesta as a form of relaxation. I'm sure that there would be less crime, stress, and would create happier people :) Thank you for sharing such an important message!
You're right Lady_E. Without quiet time and relaxation life gets horrible. Science is rediscovering that a good nap has hundreds of benefits and at least 10 minutes of relaxation every day should be compulsory. Ending burned out has no use. :) As Winston Churchill used to say if you take a rest before being tired you never get tired.
hello young lady,
u r good!
this is so right on!
much appreciate that God given talent u clearly posses, to be able to come up with all of this. Keep going ok?
respectfully
Jim
I fully agree with you and so far I have not done so. I will, however, try to do so and work on it. Thank you for a great hub.
My quiet time is an hour or so between the time I wake up and the time I get out of bed. I have gotten many of my best writing ideas during that time.
This hub is very important. So many times we allow other things to consume us and we don't take time out for ourselves. Not having quiet time can result in a whole list of health issues as well, because we can get overwhelmed with the issues of life. Great hub.
Very good advice, Lady E. Surely, everyone can find 20-30 minutes a day to relax, reflect and recharge the mind and body. For me, it helps to organize the day and get positive thoughts flowing. Your right, in this hectic world we live in quiet time helps us cope with the stress we're bound to encounter. Thanks :)
several minutes of quiet time everyday is very important specially with the trend in society. for me, when my mind is crammed with all sorts of things. it really helps me to be quiet and organize those ideas in my mind.
I had a very stressful job that eventually led me to the benefits of Yoga, and now I use it to quiet my mind whenever I can. I can't stand on my head like the fellow in the picture, but I do the best I can.
There is a nature trail that leads to a small pond about three blocks from my home. I sometimes go there when I need help from the environment to quiet my mind. I don't go there much in the winter, but I love to walk the trail in the spring and fall.
We certainly all need more relaxation and quiet time than we get.
Thanks, this was a great hub!
Inspirational. Just the images themselves inspired quietness and thought.
It is true that time is needed to re-charge. I find myself in a dark place at times and need to just stop and let the chaos fall away.
Great hub.
Hi lady E.
Thanks for the hub!.
Quiet time is good,certainly.
I too do yoga.And meditate.
And it is a balancing act to go for your goals in life and to have reflective time and insight time too.
And i have found quiet time can also get one in touch with the icky emotions, the stuff we dont want to feel.
Have a happy day.Gavin
Spending quiet time surely gives me lots of innovative ideas, but unfortunate I don't find time for relaxing on a regular basis. Thanks for the link-i checked it its really great."Time makes all men equal"-very inspirational, thanks a lot lady_E.
I love and value my quiet time. When I do not get it, I get cranky!
I love the concept of quiet time. I try to quiet the thoughts in my head on a regular basis. Sometimes they don't stay quiet until I write them down. So, I think I'd have to do that exercise before I try again.
Great idea Lady E, thanks for an informative hub.
Lady E...
I came here recommended by Duchess! I am so glad I did! When I wake up in the morning, I take my time to thank the Great Architect for all the wonderful things he`s given me and the beautiful things waiting for my day ahead.
Great hub!
Two thumbs up!
Warm regards and blessings,
Mystique
i learnt the quality of quieting my spirit, soul and body numerous years ago. Recharging is so vital to our system, especially as living a spirit filled Christian lifestyle. There is always room for more of God. Great hub and classic photos.
I find the older you get, the more quiet you need. Background noises take its toll and hearing isn't as sharp. Many things are just noise. The style of music becomes more mellow, and sometimes that's noise. We must have quietness and meditate more for the mind to stay fresh. We find a desire for peace and quiet and do what it takes to get it. For me, it's fishing by myself and enjoying similar scenes like the pics in your article, with just me and nature. Although I sometimes take my laptop with me and write while the pole is in the water.
Great article. Very impressive.
Really nice hub. Quiet times are a great time and place to find and receive balance. AND just would like to let you know that I really enjoyed you poem 'Sleep Not'. That was me some years ago, when I read it, it was very understandably experienced. Keep up the good work !!!!!!
This is a great hub and so true. Without some time alone I would go potty. I love hubby and the kids to bits, but I need that space to recharge. Hubby too. I make sure he gets at least 20 mins or more when arriving home from the city to be alone, then we can get together and enjoy our evening. Love all your hubs, so wise and helpful.
Thanks for the relaxing, peaceful Hub. This was a very useful read... and a reminder that we all need to find time to relax regularly. Great pictures to go along with your writing and great quotes in the end.
Beautiful peace of writing.
