Teachers who complain about Teaching
The Guardian - August 2015
The above was tweeted in a link and I responded but only in 140 Characters.
My full response is: There are certain careers that I feel people go into because they have a passion for it and Teaching is one of them. So, I don't understand when Teachers say they can't face another Academic year and would ask them to consider changing careers.
Ofcourse, there is a lot of paperwork, but that comes with the territory and Teachers can find ways round it. Maybe once a week, take some work home. As for pay, it is very reasonable in UK. It's interesting that no Teacher complains about all the paid holidays though. Every Term has a weeks holiday, plus Easter - 2 weeks Holiday, Xmas - 2 weeks Holiday, Summer - over 4 weeks Holiday. ٩(•̮̮̃•̃)۶ As for the political side, that's what we have Unions for.
Kids, Students or even Adult learners deserve the best quality of teaching:
- Teachers who want to support every learner in making progress.
- Teachers who will go the extra mile. It’s all worthwhile.
- Teachers who because of their desire to teach, make lessons fun, creative and interactive so learners actually look forward to their lessons, instead of dreading them or even dreading the Teacher!
"To teach is to touch a life forever" and you will notice this when long after a student has left you, they still come back to visit you or contact you, to let you know how they are doing. If a Teacher hates their job, they will do the bare minimum, learners will not be challenged and there is a lot of knowledge they would miss out on.
So, if you are a new Teacher or an old Teacher who is dreading returning to School, I hope these 50 Inspiring Quotes inspire you http://www.curatedquotes.com/quotes-for-teachers/
I don't believe the saying "A Teachers reward is in Heaven." (◕‿◕) It's right here on planet earth. I have been teaching Adults in FE (Further Education) for over 12 years and also run a Private Tuition for kids. It would take another Hub for me to write about the rewards, which I won't, but Trust me - It's worth putting your heart into any Career you pursue in life. Karma never fails. Wishing you success for the new academic year.
For any Teachers reading, it would be interesting to know what would motivate you / motivates you to keep on Teaching? Thank you for reading.
