Teenage Files - Lets Talk about Sex
72Alfie - A Teen Father
It is worrying to see the numbers of Teenage pregnancies rise. In Feb 2009, it was reported that the number of teenage pregnancies in England and Wales has risen for the first time in five years and UK has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in Europe.
Conception rates among girls rose from 40.9 per 1,000 in 2006 for those aged 15-17, to 41.9 per 1,000 in 2007. The number of conceptions per 1,000 girls aged 12 to 15 has risen from 7.8 in 2006 to 8.1 in 2007. Around 8,196 girls under 16 are estimated to have become pregnant in 2007, which represents just under 1% of all conceptions.
The government said it would give an extra £20m into schemes to help teenagers get better access to contraception and information on the risks of unprotected sex but the responsibilities also lie with Parents, Guardians and the Teenagers.
By now every parent has heard or seen how they can prevent their kids from getting pregnant or impregnating some one. The question is, are those precautions being taken? http://hubpages.com/hub/10-ways-to-stop-teenage-pregnancy

Advice to Teens
Abstinence – concentrate on your studies so you don’t have to drop out of school. From personal experience, it can be done. School life is the best, enjoy it.
Birth control Pills - If you can’t abstain use Birth control and take them regularly as prescribed.
Dress appropriately – When girls dress scantily, men see them as sex objects. You might like what you are wearing but guys get the wrong signals. I’m not saying dress like the nuns in Sister Act, but dress appropriately. The teen below was denied access to her senior prom because of the way she was dressed. (Being dressed like that is asking for trouble).
Teenager going to Prom
Don’t give in to peer pressure – A lot of teens nowadays think it’s cool to loose their virginity at about 12, 13, 14 and if you haven’t they call you a Geek. Don’t give in to it. Your future is more important and remember you can never turn back the clock.
Talk to someone– If you have any questions relating to Sex. Talk to your parents or close family relations, teachers or even Helplines where you can talk anonymously. There is a Helpline link below.

This is an Account of A teenage Mum and Dad. Leonie Bolton became pregnant at 13 and Dave became a Dad at 14. Read their stories.
Finally, it’s not all about pregnancy – sex could endanger your health. It could lead to sexually transmitted diseases, such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV and AIDS, herpes, and syphilis. Teenagers have a higher rate of contracting Gonorrhea than men and women between the ages of 20 to 44 years old.
Enjoy your Teen Years – You only have one life. ٩(•̮̮̃•̃)۶

It is a very serious problem and a tough one to deal with. There are kids in the US who get want to have a baby just to have someone to give them unconditional love. They don't realize what they are doing to their future and what a life they are creating for their child.
my first reaction was shock when i heard that teens in the US engage that early in sex. now, in the Philippines, it is not that the girls or boys want to engage in it only but they are also victims of sex trade. it is truly a difficult and very serious problem to deal with.
Well said. This is seems to be happening all over the world. African countries are not exception. Sex trde is on the increase.
Good hub Lady E, even in my county, young girls are now getting married or prganant by 17
one more advice to young boys don't get hooked to the older woman always beware of them they are always ready to catch their prey they are like cougar
you didn't share your teenage exp is their something very interesting you wud like to share with us!!
Lady E, You have some very helpful information here. I hope more teens stop by. This makes for a great open discussion... I hope many are helped by this.
As always a pleasure, Blessings!
I ENJOYED THESE COMMENTS. VERY HELPFUL ;p
What a wonderful hub on such a big social issue!! My daughter is 14 and though this problem isnt as big in India as it is in U.K, I stay worried all the time!! Kudos to you for this awareness hub!! :)
thank you for this. i'm in college now, and it was tough to avoid having sex when i was in highschool with the pressure from my friends and my boyfriend. imagine, we're in a religious school -_- luckily i had enough willpower to give in. i'm not ready, and i'm glad that i was able to stand by it..
Lady E, WOW this is staggering, the rise in sex in teens, oh how sad. I suppose we adults need to talk about it more openly and tell girls and boys on a regular basis that some behavior is not acceptable, like the girl dressed for the prom. Good Heavens! Great topic. Look forward to more on the teen files.
I am a teen from the Philippines. I have read what was said and it really helps a lot. Thanks.
look at the age of 12-16 you should really look at the consequences of having a kid. Also abortion is not the right option. Please all those considering having sex THINK ABOUT IT
hey noneofyourbusiness really good comment really gets through to me thanks
omg by 10 i was having pretend kids
I have watched "Let's Talk About Sex The Film Trailer". And I have just read the stats related to that film "Every day in America, 10,000 teenagers catch an STD, 2,400 young girls become pregnant, and 55 young people are infected with HIV."...
ok u people think u know wat kids think about sex im 12 and im dating a 14 year old and u people think we are just some sex monkeys ... which we are mot ... most kids start losing there verginity at around 16/17 . and just bcuzz kids are dressing "skankity" is because they are probaly just expressing themselves. just ley ur kids be who they want to be or they will abououtly hate you, like i have blue hair and i just asked my mom and she went out and bought the dye no questions askded and btw all u pple are probably prissy moms who dont let there kids make there own mistakes and fix it for them eventhough they dont need help.
wow u lot gt sum nice comment going plz cary on plz
I never think of such things, especially since i'm 13. It honestly is really unhealthy for kids my own age (13) to be having children. It is just wrong.

Kids these days don't know how big of a responsibility it is to have kids of their own?!
BTW, I like how you used the word scantily. Most girls don't realized that showing off too much skin are asking for trouble.
