Young Kids and Raunchy Dancing
72Music Video - Single Ladies
Forum Post: 8 Year old girls dancing like strippers
Please take a quick scan of the Forum post above. It’s happening in lots of places today and we can’t blame the kids because most of them are simply copying what they see. Do you remember back in the days - dancing along with your favourite singers while watching the music video in the 80’s 90’s? Or was it just me? Ok may be 70s, but the difference now is that the Dance moves have gotten so raunchy and the clothes they wear are getting less by the day or are the clothes shrinking?
Beyonce
Beyonce is well loved and I admire her a lot. She has such great Talent. One of her popular songs is “crazy in love”. There is a line that she dances to “oh oh oh oh oh oh oh no no” . The dance move to that lyric is very popular. Lots of teens and young kids copy this dance. It seems pretty cool to me. Even I dance along with friends if the song comes on in a party.
Then, years later, there was “single ladies”. The dance moves in this video are very raunchy and as much as I really really like Beyonce – I was not impressed. It’s the one video I didn’t quite take to, but I guess “Sasha” took over. Again, lots of young kids from the age of 7 watch it and copy the dance moves. The video was voted Best Video of the Decade.

Lady Gaga
I don't know a lot about Lady Gaga as she has only recently become very popular. However, I have seen her videos on Music channels and she certainly is blowing people away. Her recent Video "Telephone" made news Headlines. A Daily mail reporter's Headline asks: "Is Ladygaga's new video Telephone too explicit for TV?".
In the video, Gaga is seen in various states of undress and then it also features graphic violence, nudity, a lesbian kiss and mass murder.
Comments: "The big-budget video has received rave reviews from critics, but the explicit content means it won't be suitable for the singer's younger fans."
Who are they kidding? Thousands of young kids have already watched this video over and over again.

Click thumbnail to view full-sizeIn summary, I’m not sure how effective parental controls are on telly these days, but no matter how hard we try to use them, or monitor what the kids watch. They are watching these videos. If they can’t watch it on TV, they’ll watch it on their mobile phones or in their friends house.
Obviously this is no problem for adults, but if ever you wonder why a 7, 8 or 9 year old dances in an exotic way. It’s because they watch these videos which unfortunately or fortunately for some, are getting raunchier by the day and kids go “ga ga” for their “heroes”.
I have nothing against the artists featured in this Hub – it’s their profession. The point I’m simply making is that Kids will always copy people they like and Times have changed.
Thanks so much for reading. If you can, read through the Forum post again about "8 year olds dancing like strippers". - Interesting comments...

i am not a fan of Lady Gaga but she has a good voice. and very true, she is very popular now.
when the kids were little, we really controlled what they watch. we also controlled how much time they will watch tv. when they went to school, the tv exposure became less, too. they have ample time for tv during the weekends but we still tried to choose what they should watch. i believe that parents can do something about it unles they themselves want to watch their little girls gyrate with skimpy dresses.
I hate to see how fast kids are to embrace so-called "adult" activities. Things were much simpler when I was a kid. A young boy recently told me kids today are more "evolved" than when I was young. In his own way, of course, he was right, but I still hate to see it. It is also distressing that there are so many avenues to see videos with suggestive dancing that it is virtually impossible to exercise much control. The Internet isn't going away.
This is a disturbing subject in many ways, but you have addressed it in a very thoughtful way. Thank you.
Mike
Lady_E - The world is advancing at a fast speed. There are situations one cannot do anything about it than to pray for God's protection. If you do not allow the kids to "enjoy" themselves at home, they will comfortably and conveniently do it somewhere else. Nice hub. Thanks.
I think Lady Gaga took the wrong turning and ended up on the stage. She should gone the other way. Call me a prune but I think it is vulgar and an insult to to music. It is alright in Las Vegas or nightclub. Let's face what will be the next step?
Hello Lady-you gotta see them on Indian TV, they come in all sizes starting from 3 with their parents coming along as trainers and to cheer them, and they are not from lower classes with money problem. Thanks for your concern.awesome
This is a problem as large ae the global economic crisis or even the global warming!! When everything is available on a platter, there isnt much that parents or guardians can do!! Afterall, we cant be policing all 24hrs!!
I think the only way out is by the way of censorship by the authorities!!
Shukria for another great hub in tunes with the times!! :)
They don't just copy but become controlled by what these idols does, let me cite and example, i began listening to Bob's musics at a tender age of 7 or so and everything about him took the whole of me then and up till today so kids copy what they hear and who they love, that is why you see so many violence among them too because they sometimes want to be Pac,50 or one of those gang star artists (Sorry to use this word but that's what they represent)out there.Violent lyrics influence kids so Lady_E, i voted this hub up.
Thanks for sharing as i wait in anticipation that my idol Ronaldinho will play the opening match with Brazil...
I think it's a generational thing, I am sure in the 60's parents were outraged about their children dancing provocatively but I don't think we can go much further since each time we are losing more clothing.
Who knows maybe in twenty years from now the "in" thing will be nudity?
Hello LadyE They said Elvis was provocative back in the 50s, Then all the rock bands of the sixties. But they did keep their clothes on. Now that's gone so bare, they can't bare anymore. They should cover up a bit.
I think regardless of what children see, if parents work to educate their children, instill a rock solid sense of self-esteem and self confidence, then there is really nothing to worry about if they see something that was out of your control. It's when children think they have to be overtly sexual, for attention, for approval, for whatever reason, then it's going to be an issue whether they are allowed to watch more risque' videos or not.
In my estimation forighn competitors are undermining the values of the west in order to weaken it. It has been going on for a long time, step by step, little by little. That's why no one has been upset enough to nip it in the bud earlier. It is why we are deep into a historic decline. When we hit bottem the survivors will go to the other extreme, as has happened periodically in past history. On the lighter side I used your link to join Xomba today. Thanks much.
Oh my dear, you are have put into words what many of us have thought or said ourselves. Why don't these young people realize that their talent is enough to get them accepted even with clothes on! This, I believe, comes down to the general public [in all geographical locations] accepting the lewd behavior.
I love this hub. It seems more and more our youngster want to emulate pop idols literally and even metamorph into their personas. I remember admiring artists back in the day and would dance with two friends, pretending we were Diana Ross & The Supremes. But today's artists are by far too ranchy and just seem to be promoting sex through song and dance. Nothing is left to the imagination anymore!
A lot of dances today are extremely 'raunchy'. Sex/sexiness sales, so there you go as far as the media and music/tv industries are concerned. The 'love' of money is the root of all evil.'
Years ago, when I spoke with an elementary school teacher he told me that we as parents have no idea what they put up with in a day. They find children in the bathroom 'experimenting' with all forms of sex (although not an 'everyday' experience, but it happened). Where did it come from? TV, cable, internet, a friends house, or is there much freedom in the children's own home? Although we have parental controls for these things, outside of the home they are still exposed to it in one way or another. Middle school has children 11-14 of age who are 'parents.' And, as you stated, the dances. There is even a dance that girls do where they unzip their pants and expose their panties (it is said that's how you do the dance.) I am certain that some of you know where the boys (and some girls) got wearing their pants down low like Lil Wayne; from the jails. It is said that it basically means 'come and get it.' The last I heard, they passed a law saying anyone caught wearing their pants that way by an officer will be fined x amount of dollars (I'll have to check on that). I don't know if this is for all states. However, yes, we are in a mess and it appears it will be very difficult for it all to be steered in a better good moralistic manner.
Let us pray. Voted-up/rated!
Oh my goodness. I saw the video of the 7 and 8-year-old children dancing to Single Ladies and I was quite disturbed. It's a shame that artists like Beyonce and Lady Gaga are attracting the little ones. So sad.
Lady E, Wonderful hub! You have made some very good valid points! “I’m not sure how effective parental controls are on telly these days, but no matter how hard we try to use them, or monitor what the kids watch. They are watching these videos. If they can’t watch it on TV, they’ll watch it on their mobile phones or in their friends house.”
It is really important parents keep the lines of communication open with their children! They need to spend time each day finding out; “How did their day go! Was there anything at school today or…” Watch TV with them and ask them questions? Use it as a teaching tool to see where they are? You want to know where they are!!! It’s important you let them know what is or is not age appropriate... Children need you to set healthy boundaries... There are ways for them to get around them, but you want to teach them to put themselves in check?
As they say “sex sells!” Adults have choices... But it is important to know that this generation has been over exposed… Very helpful hub! It think this hub could be used to start a discussion to find out how your child feels? Thank you for sharing, In His Love, Peace and Blessings!
Dear Lady E : I see what you mean. It should not be encouraged, but unfortunately it probably sells. GBY Great hub. Your work always enlightens us all.
